"our warm hands" Oh gawd I thought of the wrong thing. Anyway, yes, SC is good etc, etc... I can't wait for SC2 because playing the original is annoying sometimes in the sense that it's an ancient game so there are a lot of primitive UI grievances.

Hey, I didn't say it was bad, just annoying to play because the UI isn't very streamlined. But it isn't the best game ever--not even the best RTS game ever.

Nick doesn't like:

-Buildings don't get built if you lack minerals to build them
-When you hotkey a building, it gets destroyed, and you try to acess it later, it doesn't give you a blank interface, just stays what you clicked last
- only 12 units selectable
- no mbs

all stupid shit essentially

and Jay, don't hurt him-- everyone knows that Starcraft is the best RTS ever, if not the best game period. It certainly is the most competitive, nothing ven comes close lol.

Okay, for clarification:
1. Buildings that you *did* have the resources for, but when your construction unit gets there, it's canceled because you no longer had them. But you already laid down the foundation, so WTF?!
2. Even if not a blank interface, a sound should play to let you know whether or not you're actually selecting another building or not. I think that's how most games do it, and it works really well.
3. Yeah, the 12 unit selection thing is the gayest thing I've seen since... well, since StarCraft 2 hasn't come out.

It's not the best game ever. It was revolutionary, yes, but just because it defined the genre doesn't mean it's still the best. Not even close.

Oh, so it upsets you that money isn't spent until you actually start building , not when you issue the command?

And that the game doesn't tell you when your building dies?

And that the selection is limited?

All fairly valid, but it mostly boils down to "I wish this game were easier"

And Starcraft easily has the most competitive scene out of any game in any genre, despite being 11 years old, as well as having the most advanced meta-game on the scene.

No RTS even comes close to achieving that.

It's only competitive because it caught on at a time when there were few good games.

Of course I've played other games!

But Starcraft's meta-game is very advanced, 10 years in the making.

But I will admit you have a point that most of it's popularity comes from it being released in an oppurtune time.

Yeah, but other games just copy that.

Or are completely different, say Company of Heroes.
